The New York Jets visited the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the NFL Playoffs tonight looking to advance to the AFC championship. The Jets lost at Indianapolis in last season’s championship which was only one game away form the most anticipated and important game of all, the Superbowl.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said that this game is a personal battle with Colts quarterback Peyton Manning who is the elder brother of Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
The Colts started out the first half right when a pass was completed by Peyton Manning to Pierre Garson to make it 6-0 Colts and the 1 point field goal was scored as well.
The Jets evened the score when LaDainian Tomlinson scored a touch down for the Jets with the one point field goal also being converted.
Adam Vinatieri scored a 47 yard field goal to give the Colts a 10-7 lead.
LaDainian Tomlinson scores his second touch down of the game to give the Jets a 14-7 lead also after the one point field goal is converted successfully.
Adam Vinatieri’s 52 yard field goal gave the Colts a 16-14 lead with 53 seconds left on the clock. The Jets make a couple of good runs and they are paid off when NIck Folk converts a 32 yard field goal to win the game 17-16.
The Jets avenged their AFC Championship loss to the Colts in the same stadium from last year and gave themselves the right to a game at Foxboro, Massachusetts to play the New England Patriots.
The last time the Jets played the Patriots in Foxboro, the Patriots demolished them 45-3. The Jets now have a healthier line up and are better prepared so they will be looking to prove a much tougher test for the home side.
The game will be next Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
