German Bundesliga: FSV Mainz-Bayern Munich

In the German Bundesliga current champions Bayern Munich visited FSV Mainzs hoping and playing for a victory that will bring them closer to catching up with league leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The scoring did not take too long as Bayern took the lead when French international Franck Ribeiry crossed the ball to the right side of the 18 yard box and Dutch genious Arjen Robben nodded the ball right across the face of goal only to be headed home by German international Bastian Schweinsteiger. 1-0

The first half ended 1-0 but Bayern did not waste any time when the scored just 5 minutes in at the 50th when Thomas Muller scored to double the visitors' lead.

The game was put out of reach when Mario Gomez tripled their lead when he scored at the 77th minute to make it 3-0.

However the hsots did not allow Bayern to gain a clean sheet (no goals allowed) when Allagui scored at the 83rd minute to make it the final score of 3-1 Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich sit 13 points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund with 11 games left in the Bundeliga this season and have the golden chance to but Dortmund's lead down to 10 when Bayern host the league leaders next Saturday on February 19. The game will be played at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena which is known as one of the most beautiful and attractive Soccer stadiums in the entire world.
