Barcelona slip at Sevilla, Real shine with Benzema

Spain's La Liga leaders Barcelona are have let a ten point lead at the summit slip all the way down to five after their 1-1 draw at Sevilla. The Catalan giants took the lead through home grown Bojan Krkic at the 30th minute but the goal was cancelled out by Jesus Navas's equalizer at the 49th minute.

The game was played at a stadium of a team who won the UEFA Cup two years in a row recently so it was never going to be easy. However, Barcelona have won the Champions League twice in the past five years and have won two straight La Liga titles.

Barcelona will host Getafe next week, play away to Villareal the following week, host Almeria and then finally play in the most anticipated game of the season which is away to Real Madrid on April 17.

Real Madrid have now played two league matches in a row without their charismatic number 7 Christiano Ronaldo but have not shown that they miss him.

Last week Real defeated Racing Santander 3-1 in Santander and this week they defeated Hercules 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Karim Benzema who has scored two goals in each of the last three league games.

Real's win and Barca's draw as put them five points apart and the game on April 17th will make a huge statement for the side that prevails to victory.
