The Eastern COnference's number 1 seed never lead at home in game 1 of their NBA playoff match up against the Indiana Pacers. However, it is the end that counted for the home side as they won it 104-99.
Indiana were led by North Carolina man Tyler Hansbrough who shot the ball impressively and eventually ended up with 22 points. Most of his shots were scored roughly 18 feet away from the basket.
The home side were led by 3rd year superstar Derrick Rose who scored a playoff career high 39 points and added 6 assists and rebounds. He is the anticipated candidate of winning the league MVP and if he does, he will be the youngest ever player to do so.
The Bulls trailed by as many as 12 points but pulled out in the end with the crowd giving them the push they truly needed. Game 2 will be Monday at 9:30 p.m.
Yet another huge game from Derrick Rose! If he can have performances like that, look for Chicago to advance to the NBA Finals and win their first NBA championship in the post-Jordan era! I’m not surprised the Bulls came back from a 98-88 deficit with 3:38 left in the fourth quarter. This is a team that won 11 games this season when trailing after the third quarter, which was tied with the Thunder and Jazz for second most in the league. They went 17-8 in the regular season in games decided by five points or less, so they obviously know how to win tight games.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely correct on that one. Chicago is lead by a 3rd year player who made himself a superstar. I like where their franchise is headed in the near future. If they can do better against a team like Indiana, they will be able to show their worth and dominate teams of their caliber and win against teams like Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles. By barely defeating Indiana, it makes us wonder what they will do against the better teams. Chicago need more than Derrick Rose to win a championship. It will be interesting to see where they go from here.
