The OKlahoma City Thunder entered tonight's game 4 of the Western Conference Finals looking to bounce back form their gm 3 defeat. They bounced to a resilient 10-2 start making as many as their first 6-7 shots eventually building up a 12 point lead. However the veterans in the Dallas Mavericks had something to do about that.
Led by Dirk Novitzki in scoring and Jason Kidd with distributing, the Mavs would not let Oklahoma City dominate the game under any circumstance. They stayed with them as best they could throughout the entire game just like OKC did in Dallas during game 1. However OKC's hard work finally seemed to pay off when superstar and 2 time leading league scorer 22 year old Kevin Durant drained a three pointer to give the home side a fifteen point lead at 99-83 with just under five minutes remaining in regulation. Then something that no one expected to hurt OKC with a fifteen point lead happened when James Harden fouled out of the game.
Dallas thanks to Dirk Novitski kept hitting amazing shot after shot and hit free throws at the line along with Jason Kidd until the game was finally tied at the end of regulation at 101.
In Over Time OKC scored a mere four points opposed to Dallas's eleven which allowed them to win the game 112-105 at the end of the period.
OKC had everything to cheer about with less than five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but the defensive and offensive energy they showed at the very beginning disappeared at the end when it mattered most. Having the experience that Dallas does, they stayed calm and played hard until the very end to comeback from a wide deficit and win by seven in over time.
OKC need to step it up in game five which will take place on Wednesday night back in Dallas where the home side will look to finish the job. OKC would like a repeat of game two which is the only game they won thus far which also took place in Texas.
Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and James Harden will look to put on a show and give it their all to escape Dallas with the W to bring it back to OKC for a game six in front of their Oklahoma City faithful.
