The Miami Heat got the job done tonight in game five which was played in Chicago. They are down by double digits but Lebron James and Dwayne Wade led the way for the visiting side to not only catch up but win.
In the end, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh versus Derrick Rose was way too much for the youngest ever MVP to handle. The big three for Miami can all make clutch shots when they need to. They may have lost games by missing those types of shots earlier in the season but now it is go time in the playoffs. Miami step up when they absolutely need to. They have proven that their game one 103-82 loss was nothing but a fluke as they won the next four games. Chicago played absolutely admirable defense but Miami stayed right there with them. This team are gelling together in their first season as a team. They are almost scary good.
The team that awaits them in the NBA finals are none other than the Dallas Mavericks. With this team there is a similar situation with the Bulls--they have only one outstanding player in Dirk Novitski. Dwayne Wade and Lebron James are decent defenders but Dirk Novitski is not known for his talent in that area. However Dirk can make some crazy baskets. The problem is that if there is one team that can stop Dallas in the entire NBA, it is the Miami Heat.
Dallas made their first ever NBA Finals back in 2006 and it was against...yes you guessed it..the Miami Heat. Dwayne Wade was their star player back then and had some help form multiple NBA Champion Shaquille O' Neal. Dallas won the first two games which were at home but then dropped all three in Miami and the next game played in Dallas. Miami somehow stopped Dirk and company with Wade scoring over 30 points a game and Shaq making his presence felt. For Dallas to have lost their first ever finals in that way, this must be a dream rematch as they look to avoid defeat against the team that ruined their welcoming party five years ago.
Dallas swept two time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers in the second round almost without even breaking a sweat. Miami won all three of their previous series 4 games to 1 against Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago respectively.
The wounds from their first ever finals appearance and defeat are reopening and they do not want to let that happen. This is a series where everyone in Dallas has to put on a crazy show to stop Lebron and company. Dirk needs to continue his unbelievably amazing scoring and Jason Kidd needs to lead the team to their first ever championship as well as his. Jason Terry, J J Barea, and Peja Stojokovic also need to provide a spark off the bench.
If there is one thing Dallas won;t do against Miami it is to not allow themselves to be intimidated. They have the chance to win their first title against the team that took away their first chance to win it. There is simply no better way to end the season for them.
Game 1 will be played in Miami on Tuesday May 31, 2011 which is only five days away. Both teams have time to think, practice, and plan on how to defeat the other. This should turn out to be an exciting series. Let us wait and see if it delivers the excitement that is anticipated.
