Jets squeeze past Steelers in Pittsburgh

After losing their last two games by a blowout in New England and a narrow score at home against the Dolphins, the Jets had to come up big in Pittsburgh against a Steelers team who were on a 4 game winning streak before tonight. The Jets knew they had to play with a lot of ehart and make almost virtually no mistakes in order to get a victory in Pittsburgh with big Ben Roethlisberger as quarter back. The Steelers were boasting a record of 10-4 with the Jets with just one less win at 9-4.

Jets got on the scoreboard right away as Brad SMith returned a kick off punt to give the Jets a 6-0 lead with the one point conversion being added to the score to make it 7-0 NY.

Pittsburgh equalized with a touch down with a 96 yard run and also converted the one point field goal. Folk scores a 25 yard field goal to let the Jets regain the lead at 10-7.

P-burgh scores a 42 yard field goal to tie the game up at 10 pts a piece.

Mendenhall’s 2 yard run gives Pittsburgh their first lead of the night 17-10. Jets tie it right back up with Mark Sanchez executing a beautiful play by faking it and running the ball into the endzone 17-17

Nick FOlk adds another field goal from 34 yards to give the Jets a lead once again 20-17

The Jets finish the game off when Jason Taylor rifles through to drop Mendenhall in his own end zone for Jets safety ti give them two more points and a 22-17 lead.

Pittsburgh made some brilliant plays with Roethlisberger running the ball for a first down but narrowly missing his receivers with no time left on the clock in the Jets end-zone which ultimately allowed the Jets to hold off the home side for a 22-17 victory and give themselves a 10-4 record which is exactly what the Steelers now have as well.

The Jets needed this win desperately and they did not disappoint with a decently solid performance. They travel to Chicago next week to play the bears in a game they also need to win to keep their wild card/playoff hopes alive.
