Panathinaikos striker threatens to leave team due to racism

French international Djibril Cisse of Panathinaikos FC of the Greek Superliga has had enough of the racism he has received in Greece.

The biggest and most popular Soccer derby in Greece was played between Olympiakos (home side) and Panathinaikos (away) yesterday in the nations capital. The home side were victorious 2-1 over their arch rivals but that was not enough for the fans. Cisse was booed, cursed, and chanted at by the home fans who called him a monkey among other racist words. Every time he touched the ball, the fans started shaking inflatable bananas to insult and degrade the player.

Dur to this obscene behavior, Cisse has claimed that he will leave the league at the end of the season. He will most likely return to France, England, or explore other opportunities. It was rumored that Turkish side Galatasaray were interested in his services earlier this year.

For a professional soccer player to be a victim of racism in a sport that is played literally all around the world is simply unacceptable. If he does leave, let this decision be a lesson for leagues and fans all around the world.
