Deron Williams home debut spoiled by the Phoenix Suns

The New Jersey Nets fans were finally able to see their new team leader Deron Williams play on his home court. It was his thrid game overall so far for the Nets with his first two being losses on the road in San Antonio and Houston respectively. He had a double double in each of those games and last night was no different.

The Nets showed a lot of spirit against a team that defeated them the last time they matched up in Phoenix so they had three reasons to win the game: revenge, a win, and D-Will's home debut. The Suns were boasted by decent performances by Steve Nash with 10 points and 15 assists, Hakim Warrick 16 points and 7 rebounds, Mikael Pietrus witch 13 points and 2 rebounds, Marcin Gortat with 16 points 5 rebounds and Robin Lopz adding 14 points of his own with 4 rebounds.

The hero of the night for the Nets was none other than Anthony Morrow. The former Golden State Warrior shot 5-10 from the 3 point line and had 22 points altogether with one of his shots tying the game for New Jersey which eventually led to overtime. Kris Humphries had 16 points and 15 points while Brooke Lopez and Deron Williams each added a double double as well. Deron's 13 points and 18 assists were not enough even with the help from Brooke Lopez's 28 points and 10 rebounds.

The most exciting part of the game came at the very end of overtime when Kris Humphries tipped the ball in with virtually no time left on the clock but it did not count. The ball was still touching his hand while the red light lit on the backboard. A great game ended in a very bitter loss for the home side which fought their way through all the way to the end of the game.
