Real Madrid sat 8 points behind leaders Barcelona as they visited Bilbao in an obvious must win. Bilbao is not an easy place to win a game as many others have tried and failed this season. However Madrid not only had something to prove but their belief led them to win a game they had to.
It all started at the 14th minute when the visitors won a penalty kick and it was converted into the bottom left corner past the keeper by Brazilian international Kaka. 1-0 Madrid.
Deja vu occured in the second half at the 54th minute when Kaka once again converted from the spot to give his side a 2-0 lead.
Christiano Ronaldo then came off the bench and placed the ball beautifully past the goal keeper into the bottom right corner of the goal after cutting the ball past the defender. 3-0 Madrid
Real Madrid achieved this result without five starters and did it with no problem whatsoever. This is a great way to prepare for next week's home "El Clasico" derby against arch rivals FC Barcelona at their beloved Santiago Bernabeu.
Barcelona will play Almeria at home in a game they will hope to win in order to stay 8 points clear as they now are only 5 points clear with a game in hand.
Next week's game could be the first of a potential 4 games. Next week will be a La Liga game, then the following Wednesday they play in the Copa Del Rey finale, and may potentially play twice in the Semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. If it were to happen, we will have a wonderful battle to watch between the top two teams from Spain.
