Mexico's second half dance ruins El Salvador

The 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup commenced earlier tonight with Costa Rica defeating Cuba 5-0 and Mexico defeating El Salvador by the same score line.

While most fans were attending Dallas hosting Miami in game 3 of the NBA Finals, a lot of passionate Soccer fans were in Arlington at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium watching Mexico put on a terrific show.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw however the second half turned out to be quite different. Mexico had a star studded squad and it certainly paid off as speed, skill, and technique finished the job for the Aztecas.

The first goal came at the 56th minute when Giovanni Dos Santos crossed the ball into the box which was directed towards goal by Juarez whose shot bounced off the keeper and deflected off Juarez's head into the net. 1-0

Aldo De Nigris came in after the goal and scored almost instantly after he split two defenders to the ball and rifled the ball home. 2-0

Then two minutes after that "El Chicharito" Javier Hernandez headed home a beautiful Andres Guardado cross. 3-0

Mexico scored three goals in just four minutes. There was more to come.

I the 68th minute Hernandez latched onto a long ball in which he shot far post past the outstretched arms of the El Salvadorean keeper. 4-0

The final goal quite luckily to Mexico as Hernandez may have play acted a bit three minutes into added time to win a penalty kick. Hernandez stepped up himself to complete his hat trick by gently lobbing the ball over and around the keeper into goal to give Mexico a well deserved 5-0 victory.

Mexico next play Cuba who also lost 5-0 but to Costa Rica. The top two teams Mexico and Costa Rica will play eachother last in the final game of the group stage. That game could be the one that determines which one of them emerges as group leaders.
